Oscar Wilde

Oscar Wilde(1854 - 1900)is a one of the most accomplished writers in the Victorian Age, the advocator of "art for art' s sake". Wilde demonstrated a breaking away from the conventional well-made plays of the 1870s and 1880s and expressed a satirical and bitter attitude towards the upper-class people in his plays. The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Importance of Being Ernest are regarded as his masterpieces in fiction and drama respectively.
